NPD classes are led by our experienced, professional faculty who provide each student with an enriching arts education in a supportive and welcoming learning environment.

Summer term classes are perfect for all dancers, whether just starting out or continuing their study. Age-appropriate exercises provide safe practice in a wide variety of dance styles.

Dance Together

Ages 10 months – 3 years
One 30 minute class per week.

Tuesdays | June 4-25 | 9:45am-10:15am
Tuesdays | July 2 – July 23 | 9:45am-10:15am

Cost: $38 for a 4-week session 

Be your child’s first dance partner. The 30-minute class is designed for the young child that loves to move with music. All are welcome – no previous experience required.

Kindermusik

Ages 10 months – 3 years
One 30 minute class per week. 

Mondays | July 8-22 (3 week session) | 10:30am-11:00am
Mondays | June 3-17 (3 week session)  | 10:30am-11:00am
Thursdays | July 11-24 (3 week session) | 5:30pm-6:00pm

Cost: Price depends on session length

This combined level class where infants and toddlers can explore and react to new sounds, sensations, objects, and movements a while nurturing social-emotional growth and cognitive development long with their caregiver.

Creative Movement

Ages 3-6
One 40 minute class per week. 

Mondays | 12:30pm-1:10pm
Thursdays | 5:30pm-6:10pm

Cost: $60 for the 6-week summer term

Creative Movement is a joyful way for children to explore movement, channel energy, stimulate imagination, promote creativity and embrace discipline. Explore the four basic body movements: bending, stretching, turning and jumping with fun and engaging activities.

Note: Students must be fully potty trained in accordance with NPD’s policy on toileting in order to take Creative Movement.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Creative Movement in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Mini-Movers

Ages 4-6
One 45-minute class per week

Tuesdays | 5:30pm-6:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

Can’t decide between Tap and Ballet?  Choose both this summer.  An introduction to the graceful dance movements of ballet and the rhythmic and upbeat stylings of tap dance for your mini-mover.

Note: Students must be fully potty trained in accordance with NPD’s policy on toileting in order to take Mini-Movers.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Creative Movement B, Mini-Movers, Pre-Ballet, Pre-Dance or Pre-Tap in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Pre-Ballet

Ages 5-7
One 45 minute class per week

Mondays | 1:15pm-2:00pm

Wednesdays | 5:30pm-6:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer session

School aged students begin a more formal study of classical ballet that introduces concepts including turn out, positions of the feet and arms, and a specific focus on class etiquette.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Pre-Ballet or Pre-Dance in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Beginning Ballet

Ages 7+
One 1 hour class per week

Mondays | 5:30pm-6:30pm

Wednesdays | 4:45pm-5:15pm

Cost: $98 for the 6-week summer term

This class follows a traditional ballet class format, starting at the barre focusing on posture and alignment. Center movement and traveling steps are added as the class progresses. No former training is required.

Beginning Contemporary & Modern

Ballet 1A

Ages 7+
One 1 hour class per week

Mondays | 5:30pm-6:30pm

Wednesdays | 4:15pm-5:15pm

Cost: $98 for the 6-week summer term

Ballet 1A introduces elementary barre work within the structure of a formal ballet class. At this level, students have the maturity needed to gain increased flexibility, balance and coordination.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 1A  in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Two 1 hour classes per week

Wednesdays | 4:15pm-5:15pm

Cost: $158 for the 6-week summer term

Contemporary & Modern 1

Ages 7+
One 1 hour class per week

Wednesdays | 6:15pm-7:15pm

Cost: $98 for the 6-week summer term

Find out what its like to move off-center, use the  asymmetry of the body, working in parallet, yielding to gravity and trying floor work.  Connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements in these highly expressive dance forms.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Contemporary 1, Jazz 1, or Modern 1 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Youth Ensemble A

Ages 8+
One 1-hour class per week

Mondays | 6:30pm-7:30pm

Cost: $98 for the 6-week summer term

NPD is proud to present a Community Engagement program: Tiny Tots Ballet, specifically designed to be performed for children ages 2-4. Participants in the Youth Ensemble will learn choreography by our faculty and student company members honing their performance skills, musicality and storytelling abilities. Dancers are encouraged to register for multiple sections of Youth Ensemble.

Building on terminology learned in previous levels, Ballet 1B further develops vocabulary and strength for advancement. The student’s increased confidence in the formal class setting allows them to cultivate correct body alignment and strength.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 1B  in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Two 1 hour classes per week

 Pre-Pointe

Ages 9+
One 45 minute class per week

Tuesdays | 6:30pm-7:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

Pre-Pointe: Stretch & Strengthen is designed for all level dancers looking to improve their flexibility, strength, leg and arm lines, and balance, to become a stronger dancer.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Pre-Pointe in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Ballet 2

Ages 9+
One 1.5 hour class per week

Mondays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Thursdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Cost: $144 for the 6-week summer term

This class will focus on positions of the arms, direction of the body and endurance. Emphasis is on longer movement phrases both at the barre and in the center to develop performance quality. This class is offered once a week. Depending on individual progression and development, students may be given the opportunity to take pre-pointe classes. This class is offered once a week with the option to attend a second class per week by registering for Ballet 2 Extended.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 2 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Contemporary & Modern 2

Ages 9+ by placement
One 1 hour class per week

Wednesdays | 6:15pm-7:15pm

Cost: $98 for the 6-week summer term

Dive deeper into a variety of Modern and Contemporary techniques and explore movements and expression of emotion.  We encourage students to express their own creativity and grow their movement vocabulary through the use of improvisation.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Contemporary 2, Jazz 2 or Modern 2 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Stretch and Strengthen

Ages 9+
One 45 minute class per week

Tuesdays | 6:30pm-7:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

Stretch & Strengthen is designed for all level dancers looking to improve their flexibility, strength, leg and arm lines, and balance, to become a stronger dancer.

Beginning Pointe Workshop

Ages 10+ by placement

Tuesday May 28 | 4:00pm-7:00pm

Cost: $45 for the 3-hour workshop

This three hour workshop is designed for dancers beginning pointe this summer and who have questions. It will cover all of the basics of pointe shoes including sewing and tying shoes, pointe safety and how to care for pointe shoes and your feet. The class will also include a beginning pointe technique class that will prepare dancers for summer classes.

This is a mandatory workshop for any NPD dancers starting pointe in the summer session. Dancers must have permission from the Director prior to starting pointe work. Please do NOT sew shoes prior to workshop.

Ballet 3

Ages 10+
One 1.5 hour class per week

Mondays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Thursdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Cost: $144 for the 6-week summer term

In Ballet 3, attention is paid to the shape of the feet, balance and key elements of musicality including rhythm and phrasing. Students will see an increase in difficulty in barre and center work as they begin to focus on repetition and retention. This class meets once weekly with the option to attend a second class per week by registering for Ballet 3 Extended.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 3  in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Pointe 1

Ages 11+ by placement
One 45 min class per week

Mondays | 5:30pm-6:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

Further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary for pointe work. Focus is on strengthening muscles of the foot, ankle and core, with attention to alignment and classical technique. 

Existing NPD students enrolled in Pointe 1 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Pointe Workshop

Ages 11+ by placement

Tuesday May 28 | 5:30pm-7:00pm

Cost: $36 for the 1.5-hour workshop

This 1.5 hour workshop is designed for dancers who has been on pointe for less than two years. Dancers will learn strengthening exercises on pointe that they can do as a warm-up before coming to class and/or rehearsals in the future.

Ballet 4

Ages 12+
One 1.5 hour class per week

Wednesdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Thursdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Cost: $144 for the 6-week summer term

The class focuses on complex barre work, center exercises and  across the floor combinations, pointe work, and ballet variations. Students learn advanced steps, while emphasizing musicality, discipline, and professionalism. This class meets once weekly with the option to attend a second class per week by registering for Ballet 4 Extended.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 4  in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Pointe 2

Ages 12+ by placement
One 45 min class per week

Mondays | 5:30pm-6:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

As students progress, pointe technique focuses on building stamina and skill to support the demands of classical repertoire. Students who are placed in pointe levels are expected to train year-round.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Pointe 2 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Contemporary & Modern 3

Ages 12+ by placement
One 1 hour and 15 minute class per week

Tuesdays | 4:00pm-5:15pm

Cost: $120 for the 6-week summer term

Dive deeper into a variety of Modern and Contemporary techniques and explore movements and expression of emotion.  We encourage students to express their own creativity and grow their movement vocabulary through the use of improvisation.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Contemporary 3, Modern 3 or Modern 4 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Ballet 5

Ages 12+
One 1.5 hour class per week

Wednesdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Thursdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Cost: $144 for the 6-week summer term

Elevating dancers into a more technically demanding level, Ballet 5 prepares students for pre-professional training. This class emphasizes correct postural alignment, principles of turn out, and control while performing complex combinations. This class meets one day a week with the option to attend a second class per week by registering for Ballet 5 Extended.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 5 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Pointe 3

Ages 12+ by placement
One 45 min class per week

Wednesdays | 5:30pm-6:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

As students progress, pointe technique focuses on building stamina and skill to support the demands of classical repertoire. Students who are placed in pointe levels are expected to train year-round.

Ages 13+
Two 1.5 hour classes per week

Thursdays | 4:00pm-5:30pm

Cost: $255 for the 6-week summer term

Classes will focus on use of the head and upper body, fluidity of movement as well as the intricacies of advanced ballet terminology. This class meets two days a week.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Level 6 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.

Pointe 4

Ages 13+ by placement
One 45 min class per week

Wednesdays | 5:30pm-6:15pm

Cost: $76 for the 6-week summer term

In Pointe 4, there is a strong emphasis on the refinement of technique. Using more complex combinations to challenge students to maintain technique and artistry, students focus on creating a bridge between classwork and performance. Students who are placed in pointe levels are expected to train year-round.

Existing NPD students enrolled in Pointe 4 in the 2023-24 school year should enroll for this class.
