Frequently Asked Questions

What should my child wear for camp?

If you would like to purchase a leotard, tights, or ballet shoes, all of these items are available at NPD.  Please come a little early on the first day to allow time to purchase these items. If you don’t wish to purchase dancewear, we recommend wearing something that is easy to move around in, such as shorts or leggings and a fitted tank top or t-shirt.  We request that street clothes are solid color and do not have any writing on them. If you don’t have dance shoes, bare feet are recommended. Hair should be pulled back into a ponytail or bun and kept out of your child’s face as much as possible.

Where can I park to drop my child off?

Parking is available in NPD’s lot on the south side of Front Ave. We encourage all adults to escort their dancer across the street and wait with them in the lobby for the camp to start. Please note that the street in front of NPD is marked as a no parking zone due to the crosswalk.

Can I watch my child's class?

We don’t have space in the studios for parents to watch but there are observation windows in some of our studios if you want to peek.  We just ask that you don’t become a distraction to your dancer or the other dancers in the camp.

My child is 3. Are they really ready for a dance camp?

Our policy is that children must be fully potty trained before participating in summer camps or classes.

A full potty trained child can:

  1. Communicate to the teachers that he/she needs to go to the restroom before they need to go.
  2. Alert him/herself to stop what he/she is doing, to go and use the bathroom.
  3. Pull down his/her clothes and get them back up without assistance.
  4. Wipe him/herself after using the toilet.
  5. Get on/off the toilet by him/herself.
  6. Wash and dry hands.
  7. Postpone going if they must wait for someone who is in the bathroom.
My child is 4.5, 6.5, or 8.5, can they sign up for the next age group?

In order to register for camp, children must be currently within the age group specified. So if a child is 6.5, they may take camps for ages 5-6 only.

What Our Families are Saying

The instruction was awesome. My son kept talking about his teachers each day after camp.

All of the staff are very friendly and positive. Both of my kids enjoyed the experience very much so much that they don’t even mind the daily 200 mile round trip drive.

My daughter absolutely loved the class! It was worth the 2 hour drive. We will definitely be coming back again next summer! She loved her teachers as well – Good job ladies:)

One of my daughters was hesitant to participate and the teachers and staff were very patient and kind to her so it became a positive experience for her!

It’s amazing how much they learn in 3 days and my daughter enjoys it and meeting new friends! Teachers are very patient and kind!

[My daughter] was beaming when I dropped her off and picked her up. She was so excited to go and she is still talking about it! The “recital” on the last day was very cute and I could tell they had been learning.

My daughter loved the camp! She was so excited that crafts were incorporated into the camp along with the dancing!
