What is a Sensory-Friendly Performance?

This version of Snow White is approximately an hour long and has been adapted to facilitate a sensory-friendly environment. Some of the adaptations are listed below.

  • Abbreviated performance length
  • Materials are provided before the performance to assist with arrival and the process of attending live performance in a theater.
    • House lights remain on at half brightness.
    • Minimal lighting changes on stage
    • Lower sound levels throughout the performance
    • Limited sudden or surprising sounds
    • Guests are encouraged to bring noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs.
    • Guests are free to talk, leave their seats, and move freely during the performance.
    • Designated quiet areas available

Sensory-Friendly Performances are designed for children and adults with sensory input disorders, autism, or other developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities and their families and caregivers. If an individual has been unable to attend live theater or movies because of their special needs, this is perfect for them. We promise a judgement-free, fun experience for the entire family. Whereas other public performances might frown upon a lot of movement or loud reactions, we will embrace it! All children must be accompanied by an adult. We encourage caretakers and family members of people with disabilities to attend.

    Performance materials

Here are some materials to use before and during the performance to help attendees know what to expect and where to go while at the theater.
