Summer Dance Instensive Jr.
Through daily classes and activities, dancers develop strength, confidence, and a deeper passion for the art of dance, all while building technical skills and expanding their knowledge of various dance styles. Northern Plains Dance’s Summer Dance Intensive (SDI) Jr. is a comprehensive program designed to ignite a love for dance while giving aspiring dancers a deeper understanding of ballet technique and related dance styles. This unique summer experience is tailored for dancers ages 8-12, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the joy and artistry of dance.
Each day, dancers engage in daily ballet technique classes that provide a solid foundation for all dance styles. These classes are complemented by energetic and enriching sessions on topics like injury prevention, contemporary dance, and more, allowing students to explore different aspects of dance while deepening their passion for the art form.
What makes this intensive truly special is its focus on encouraging students to discover the joy and freedom of movement. Whether refining technique, embracing new styles, or simply falling more in love with the process of dancing, participants leave the program with a renewed sense of excitement and growth—ready to continue their dance journey with passion and confidence.

For dancers ages 8 and up, Northern Plains Dance’s Summer Dance Intensive Jr. is a unique and exciting opportunity in the state, designed to spark and nurture a deep love for dance. This program brings together some of the most talented guest faculty, offering students a chance to learn from passionate experts in a supportive, inspiring environment.

Performance Opportunities
Participants who are participating in the second week and would like to get a chance to work with Guest Choreographers focusing on learning choreography are invited to register for the Choreography Add-On in Week 2. Those who will be 11 years old by January 1, 2026 are invited to perform the learned material at Relevé on the Rooftop on August 7, 2025.

Register for both weeks and recieve a 10% discount. Add-ons are not subject to discount.

Financial Aid
Students may apply for financial aid to assist with tuition cost. Applications must be received by May 15, 2026.

Teresa Fellion
Teresa Fellion founded BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance in late 2011, after working as an independent choreographer since 2004. Fellion’s work has been positively reviewed by The New York Times, NPR, The Huffington Post, The Scotsman, Oberon’s Grove, Dance Informa, Revieux, The Dance Enthusiast, TheatreScene.net, Cretus, NY-Theatre.com, The Skinny Magazine, World Dance Reviews, Edinburgh Festivals Magazine, Edinburgh Spotlight, Southampton Press, Stage Buddy, East Hampton Press, The Sun Journal, Broadway Baby, and Earth Press, among others. She has received the Choreographic Fellowships from SummerStages Dance Festival and ICA Boston, American Dance Guild Fellowship for Jacob’s Pillow’s Choreographers’ Lab, and LEIMAY Outsight Garden Choreographers Fellowship. Teresa has received grants for her work from The National Endowment for the Arts Window Award, O’Donnell Green Foundation for Music and Dance, LMCC, Peg Santvoord Foundation, Brooklyn Arts Council Community Arts Fund Grant, New York Community Trust, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, The New Music Organizational Fund, Dance/NYC Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund: New York State Edition, Artist Relief Fund, Indie Theater Fund Grant, Dance/NYC, and space grants from ITE-Inception to Exhibition, MANA Arts/Armitage Gone! Teresa’s choreography has been commissioned by the NYC Department of Transportation’s Summer Streets, chashama at Anita’s Way 4 Times Square, Island Moving Company, Marcia Brooks/Various Works MixT Company, and The Hudson River Museum via the Jordan Matter Dancers Among Us exhibit. Her full-length choreography for Book of Saints, commissioned by Marigny Opera Contemporary Ballet won the Best of New Orleans 2018 Gambit Award for Best Dance Presentation (Full Length) for this original work. Teresa has led workshops and master classes, and been commissioned to set work at University of Florida, Gainesville, NYU, Pace University, Castleton State College, University of Maine, Farmington, Jacob’s Pillow, Wilson College, and several performing arts schools. She has taught regularly at The Ailey School, and Sarah Lawrence College, is an Adjunct Dance Professor for 10 Hairy Legs New Jersey Arts & Education Center at Brookdale Community College, Middlesex County College, Union College, and Monmouth, and is a faculty member and director of the Summer Dance Program at The Ross School. She was also the Dance Department Director and lead faculty at Studio Republik Dubai. Teresa has worked in social justice and activism since the 1990s, involved with community groups, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and protests. Since 2005, Fellion has employed dance, live music, and theater with social justice at scores of NYC schools, organizations, and professional performances as director of InterCATaction/Children’s Adaptive Theater and BodyStories: TFD, as Senior Teaching Artist for DreamYard, Marquis, Women’s Project, CWP.
Teresa was named Artistic Liaison between Cameroon & U.S. by President Paul Biya while performing with National Ballet du Cameroun and at the National Soccer Cup Finals. She has performed for Lucinda Childs, Sarah Skaggs, Kimberly Young, M’Bewe Escobar, Skip Costa, and Martha Bowers, and she has performed works by Twyla Tharp, Deganit Shemy, Liz Lerman, and Megan Boyd, among others. Teresa completed a Dance MFA from Sarah Lawrence under Bessie Schonberg Scholarship, Certificate from the Ailey School under scholarship, and BA in French & English Literature, with a minor in dance from NYU as a merit scholar

Eddie Stockton
Working professionally for over 25 years, Eddie Stockton received his formal training as a student of the (Alvin) Ailey and Martha Graham Schools, and NYC’s High School of Performing Arts. During his third year, he joined his first dance company, (NJ)Center Dance Collective. He would later continue his studies at the Acting and Musical Theatre Departments of Alabama State and Howard Universities. His career has since been enriched with the experience of working for several companies and choreographers including George Faison, Kevin Iega Jeff, Philadanco, Dwight Rhoden, DC Shakespeare Theatre, Nathan Trice, Nai-ni Chen, Bill T. Jones, and more. Teaching dance since a teenager, Eddie was a fifteen-year instructor at The Ailey School (Jazz & House) and nine-year founding member of Brooklyn’s Purelements (Modern/Jazz/Ballet). Stockton and Teresa Fellion led the Dance Department at StudioRepublik, Dubai UAE together in 2019-20. His passion for dance and desire to share information has drawn him across the country and globe doing residencies, workshops, and occasional performances.

Jack Randel
Jack Randel, originally from Farmington Hills, Michigan, received a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan. They have worked with choreographers Shannon Gillen, Jessica Fogel, Jillian Hopper, Nicole Reehorst, Leah O’Donnell, and J’Sun Howard. Jack has performed in many regional theatrical productions in southeast Michigan. They have choreographed for various dance troupes and theatrical productions during their time on campus. Their choreography was showcased at the American College Dance Association National festival in 2023.

Noëlle Davé
Noëlle Davé, a South Carolina native, graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography. She is a freelance movement artist, choreographer, and educator currently based in New York City. During her time at ECU, she had the opportunity to perform in repertory piece, Standing in Tears, staged by Koresh Dance company members, as well as pieces by David Ingram, Danielle Sheather, Michel Kouakou, John Dixon, Tommi Galaska, and Teal Darkenwald. Upon graduation, Noëlle joined gloATL in Atlanta, GA as a moving artist under lauri stallings. She has had the opportunity to be a part of stallings’ work, Supple Means of Connection, in a six-week residency at the High Museum of Art as well as the Florence Biennale in Florence, Italy. She was also a dancer with Britt Fishel & Artists starting in 2020, through which she gratefully got to perform at the Florence Biennale again at the end of 2021, as well as around Philadelphia and NYC. Noëlle has also had the opportunity to complete a residency under David Ingram with Fort Wayne Ballet where she performed in Fort Wayne Ballet, Too! She is currently a dancer with Culpdid Dance Company and has been traveling to France for residencies and performances with the company. Noëlle loves to take on innovative learning opportunities to grow in her artistry and explore new ways of thinking and moving.

What should by child wear for class?
Students should come prepared for class in any style of dance. Extra leotards, shoes, and tights are encouraged. Students are required to have ballet shoes (and pointe shoes if applicable.) Jazz and character shoes are not required but are encouraged. Hair should be secured in a bun with a hairnet unless otherwise specified.
How will my child be placed in a level?
The first class on Monday morning (of each week) serves as a placement class for SDI Jr. Level placement with room assignments will be posted Tuesday morning.
