Creative. Comprehensive. Northern Plains Dance’s classes in all styles of dance encourage students to lead an active lifestyle, while building confidence and nurturing creativity.

Preschool Division

(ages 10 mos. – 4 years)

Our Preschool classes open the door to the joy of dance, giving little ones their very first chance to explore music and movement in a playful, encouraging environment. Each class is designed to spark excitement while building coordination, musicality, and a lifelong love of the arts.

From sharing special moments in Dance Together to discovering independence in Creative Movement, these classes are the perfect first step for your tiny dancer.

Preschool Division Classes

Tuition is based on 18 week semesters (unless otherwise indicated in the class description)

Tuition Payment Options: Tuition payments are automatically scheduled into 4 monthly payments per semester. Unless the office is notified prior to the first payment.  The account holder must provide a credit card or e-checking for payments to be deducted automatically on the designated due dates. See the Student Handbook for tuition due dates and details.

Price match: Bring in a registration document and/or invoice from another dance studio and Northern Plains Dance will match their hourly rate for the current school year. If NPD’s hourly rate is already less, you will receive 5% off for the current school year. New students only. Cannot be combined with other discounts.

Dance Together | Ages 10 months - 2 years
30 Minutes / Once a Week
$52 per 5-week session

Be your child’s first dance partner. Designed for young children who love to move to music, this class uses dance, games, and songs to support early development in a fun and welcoming environment.

With a caregiver’s gentle guidance, dancers begin building listening skills, movement coordination, and body and spatial awareness. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to move and enjoy time together.

As with all our open classes, this class is tailored to the needs of the overall attendees, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

Kindermusik | Ages 6 months - 3 years

This multi-level class invites infants and toddlers to explore and respond to new sounds, sensations, objects, and movements alongside a caring adult. Together, you’ll nurture your child’s early social-emotional growth and cognitive development through music, movement, and purposeful play.

Tuition includes access to Kindermusik’s award-winning online materials, offering families ways to extend the experience at home.

Discover Dance | Ages 2.5-4
30 Minutes / Once a Week
$144 per semester ($36 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

In their first independent class, students build confidence and independence while engaging in age-appropriate choreography and imaginative movement. Our experienced instructors lead each class with positivity, keeping young dancers engaged through a thoughtfully paced curriculum that encourages creativity, coordination, and a love of dance.

Creative Movement A (Preschool) | Ages 3-4

40 Minutes / Once a Week
$194 per semester ($48.50 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

This introductory class uses basic ballet vocabulary to support the development of motor skills, coordination, creativity, and social awareness. Dancers explore movement through imaginative play, discovering the joy of self-expression while learning the structure and expectations of a dance class.

Creative Movement B (Preschool) | Ages 4-5

Building on the foundation of Creative Movement A, this class offers a more structured exploration of dance using ballet vocabulary. Dancers continue developing coordination and creativity through music and movement games that nurture their love of dance and encourage joyful expression.

Mini-Movers | Ages 4-6

45 Minutes / Once a Week
$252 per semester ($63 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

Can’t decide between tap and ballet? In this combo class, your dancer doesn’t have to choose. This class introduces young students to both the elegance of ballet and the rhythm and energy of tap in one fun and balanced experience.

Students will learn the basics of ballet technique, including posture, balance, and graceful movement, while also developing musicality and coordination through lively tap exercises. The combination of styles encourages both discipline and self-expression, helping dancers build a well-rounded foundation in the performing arts.

Perfect for mini-movers who love variety and are ready to explore the structure and joy of dance in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.

Boys In Motion | Ages 4-7

$230 per semester ($57.50 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

Specialized training for aspiring male dancers, this class is tailored to the unique needs of boys’ technique. Young men push themselves and each other to improve in a supportive environment that focuses on athleticism, strength, coordination, camaraderie and discipline. This class meets once weekly.

Be your child’s first dance partner. The 30-minute class is designed for the young child that loves to move with music. Using a caregiver’s assistance in bringing listening skills and initiating movement coordination through dance, games and songs, begin body awareness as soon as your child can stand.  All are welcome – no previous experience required. This class stresses coordination, gross motor skill development, musicality, spatial awareness, and listening skills while fostering independence. Students use their imagination to expand body connectivity while learning how to behave in the structured setting of a dance class.

As the students’ concentration and gross motor skills improve, Creative Movement B emphasizes patterns in both music and movement. Students will be introduced to the concepts of body, energy, space, & time as well as encouraged to take direction from the instructor and share turns with peers.

Students begin a more formal study of classical ballet through age-appropriate skill development. Pre-ballet introduces concepts including turn out, positions of the feet and arms, and a specific focus on class etiquette. At this level, students are able to add Pre-Dance to their schedule.

Pre-Dance students explore dance styles outside of ballet.  The class focuses on basic jazz and hip hop movements that promote strength and agility. At this level, students are able to add Pre-Ballet to their schedule. This class meets once weekly.

Tap is all about rhythm! This exciting and challenging form of dance is executed by creating combinations of sounds with the shoes on your feet. Students focus on rhythm, timing, and coordination.

The Children’s Division gently guides young dancers as they continue their journey, building a strong foundation in movement and the fundamentals of dance. Classes nurture growing bodies and minds, encouraging coordination, focus, listening skills, and creativity—all in a joyful, supportive environment that celebrates every milestone along the way.

Homeschool Dance Program A | Ages 5-8

Our homeschool dance classes are thoughtfully designed to complement your home education journey. These classes provide a creative outlet for movement and expression while supporting physical education, fine arts, and social development. Held during the day to accommodate homeschool schedules, these classes offer a fun and focused environment where students can stay active, build confidence, and express themselves through dance.

With an emphasis on musicality, technique, balance, flexibility, and strength, students also develop coordination and fine motor skills that complement learning in other subjects. Whether you’re looking for a physical education option, an artistic outlet, or a structured group activity, our program offers a flexible and high-quality addition to your homeschool curriculum.

Pre-Dance is designed for school-aged students ready to explore movement styles beyond ballet. In this upbeat class, dancers are introduced to basic jazz, contemporary, and hip hop techniques that help build strength, coordination, and agility.

Pre-Dance is a great fit for young movers who enjoy rhythm and expression. At this level, students also have the option to add Pre-Ballet or Pre-Tap to round out their dance foundation.

Pre-Tap is a fun and energetic introduction to the rhythm and musicality of tap dance—perfect for dancers who love to make noise with their feet. Students explore basic tap steps and combinations while developing coordination, timing, and a strong sense of rhythm.

This class is a great way to build foundational skills in a playful, structured setting. Dancers at this level can also add Pre-Ballet or Pre-Dance to their schedule for a well-rounded experience.

Youth Division

(Ages 7-12)

The Youth Division introduces students to dance as a performance art, encouraging them to grow as strong, coordinated, and curious young artists. Classes build on foundational skills while developing musicality, determination, and a deeper understanding of movement. With an emphasis on quality training in a supportive environment, the Youth Division helps dancers gain confidence and discover the artistry within their technique.

Beginning Ballet | Ages 7+

60 Minutes / Once a Week
$297 per semester ($74.25 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

*This class follows a 16-week semester schedule. Please refer to the Student Handbook for holidays and breaks when class will not be held; these dates are not included in tuition.

Students ages 7 and over who are interested in Ballet with no previous experience should register for Beginning Ballet. In this class, dancers will learn basic movement vocabulary and terminology, positions of the feet and arms, as well as safe stretching techniques.  While in Beginning Ballet, students will be assessed for potential placement in a leveled class.

Ballet 1 A | Ages 7-9 with previous experience

60 Minutes / Once a Week
$328 per semester ($82 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

Students begin formal barre and center work within the structure of a traditional ballet class. This level supports the development of strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, laying the groundwork for more advanced technique. In addition to Ballet 1A, Students are encouraged to enroll in any other Level 1 Class: Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop or Tap, to expand their movement vocabulary.  Interested students without previous ballet experience should enroll in Beginning Ballet.

Building on the vocabulary and skills introduced in Ballet 1A, this level further develops strength, coordination, and confidence in the formal ballet class setting. Dancers begin to work with more intricate movement patterns and combinations, supporting continued growth in alignment, balance, and body awareness. This transitional level prepares students for the increased complexity of future levels while reinforcing essential technique and artistry. In addition to Ballet 1B, Students are encouraged to enroll in any other Level 1 Class: Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop or Tap, to expand their movement vocabulary.

Interested students without previous ballet experience should enroll in Beginning Ballet. This class is offered once weekly. *To take Ballet Level 1 multiple times per week, register for Ballet 1 B Extended.

For dancers who have mastered elementary ballet concepts, this level emphasizes musicality, body direction, and arm positions. Dancers build stamina and learn longer phrases at the barre and center to develop technical clarity and performance presence.

In addition to Ballet 2, students are encouraged to enroll in any other Level 2 Class: Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, or Tap, to expand their movement vocabulary.

Depending on individual progression and development, students may be given the opportunity to take pre-pointe or pointe classes. This class is offered once weekly with the option to take twice a week by registering for Ballet 2 Extended. Pricing for Ballet 2 Extended can be found during registration.

Intermediate Ballet | Ages 10+

Intermediate Ballet welcomes students with some previous ballet training who want to return to ballet, as well as students who prefer to work in a slower-paced environment. While in Intermediate Ballet, students will be assessed for potential placement in a leveled class.

Specialized training for aspiring male dancers, this class emphasizes coordination, gross motor skill development, musicality, and spatial awareness, all essential for future men’s work in ballet. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of age appropriate movements and pathways through engaging games and activities, fostering athleticism, strength, coordination, camaraderie and discipline.

This class serves as a platform for deepening artistic expression through improvisation and learning dance phrases. Branching out of the concept learned in the previous level, this class put more emphasis on creative expression and dynamics of the movements. Dancers will learn various tools to improve their performance skill and quality.

In addition to Contemporary 2, Students are encouraged to enroll in any other  Level 2 Class: Hip Hop, Intermediate Ballet, Jazz, Modern, or Tap, to expand their movement vocabulary.

Cross-training teaches dancers how to engage the proper muscles to execute a movement and the ability to move with more care and intentionality using a combination of Pilates and other conditioning styles. This class meets once weekly.

Emphasizing foot-strengthening exercises and alignment, Pre-Pointe is a thorough approach that assures a safe and solid foundation allowing the student to be in control and at ease when working en pointe.  Endurance and consistency will determine individual progress. Students must attend the ballet class previous to the Pre-Pointe class time they select. Students who are placed in pointe levels are expected to train year-round.

Through a structured and progressive approach, students will enhance their strength, balance, and artistry while developing greater technical proficiency and control en pointe. Students who are enrolled in Pointe Level 2 and above are encouraged to enroll in Open Pointe. Dancers who wish to take Open Pointe do not need to take a ballet class prior.

Our 4-week Wedding Dance Workshops provide focused, supportive instruction to help you feel confident and comfortable on the floor. Looking for something casual and social? B.Y.O. (Bring Your Own…) evenings are perfect for trying a new style, dancing with friends, or enjoying a single, no-commitment night of movement.

We also offer classes created specifically for different interests and stages of life. Aging Gracefully (55+) focuses on mobility, balance, strength, and joyful movement in a supportive and welcoming environment. For those brand new to dance—or returning after time away—Intro to Ballet and Intro to Tap provide a friendly, low-pressure way to learn the fundamentals while building confidence and having fun.

Details and Registration

Ballet 1 A | Ages 7-9 with previous experience

60 Minutes / Once a Week
$328 per semester ($82 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

Students begin formal barre and center work within the structure of a traditional ballet class. This level supports the development of strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, laying the groundwork for more advanced technique. In addition to Ballet 1A, Students are encouraged to enroll in any other Level 1 Class: Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop or Tap, to expand their movement vocabulary.  Interested students without previous ballet experience should enroll in Beginning Ballet.

*To take Ballet Level 1 multiple times per week, register for Ballet 1 A Extended. Schedule & pricing in registration.

Ballet 1 B | Ages 8-10 with previous experience

60 Minutes / Once a Week

Building on the vocabulary and skills introduced in Ballet 1A, this level further develops strength, coordination, and confidence in the formal ballet class setting. Dancers begin to work with more intricate movement patterns and combinations, supporting continued growth in alignment, balance, and body awareness. This transitional level prepares students for the increased complexity of future levels while reinforcing essential technique and artistry. In addition to Ballet 1B, Students are encouraged to enroll in any other Level 1 Class: Contemporary/Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop or Tap, to expand their movement vocabulary.

Interested students without previous ballet experience should enroll in Beginning Ballet. This class is offered once weekly. *To take Ballet Level 1 multiple times per week, register for Ballet 1 B Extended.

Intermediate Ballet | Ages 10+

60 Minutes / Once a Week

$297 per semester ($74.25 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

*This class follows a 16-week semester schedule. Please refer to the Student Handbook for holidays and breaks when class will not be held; these dates are not included in tuition.

Intermediate Ballet welcomes students with some previous ballet training who want to return to ballet, as well as students who prefer to work in a slower-paced environment. While in Intermediate Ballet, students will be assessed for potential placement in a leveled class.

Boys In Motion | Ages 7-12

45 Minutes / Once a Week
$232 per semester ($58 per month with 4 Monthly Payments)

Specialized training for aspiring male dancers, this class emphasizes coordination, gross motor skill development, musicality, and spatial awareness, all essential for future men’s work in ballet. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of age appropriate movements and pathways through engaging games and activities, fostering athleticism, strength, coordination, camaraderie and discipline.
