Sing & Play

 Sing & Play classes offer a stimulating environment to explore new movement and language skills with a sense of security, comfort, and confidence. As your child thrives in a music and movement-driven environment, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers and learn to use music to create and simplify routines at home.

 

SKILLS & BENEFITS

  • Heightened body awareness and beginning competence in self-regulation of movement
  • Development of various basic gross-motor skills, fine-motor control, and coordination
  • Growing ability to recognize and follow patterns in music and move to a steady beat, fundamental skills that have been linked to math and language

ACTIVITIES

  • Discovery and play with scarves, hoops, mirrors, and more
  • Instrument play and introduction to basic music concepts such as high/low, fast/slow, and holding a steady beat
  • Singing songs that include motions, repeated words, and different meters and modes

  • Increased alertness, self-control, and ability to regulate their own movements
  • Stabilization of muscles necessary for healthy posture and overall balance

  • Exploring movement concepts and participating in musical interactions with objects and others
  • Discovering different ways instruments can make sounds and experiencing a wide range of musical concepts

  • Learning to associate a picture with a sound
  • Singing songs with language patterns that explore rhythm, speech sounds, syntax, and rhyme

How much does Kindermusik cost?

Kindermusik should fit easily into your life so we are proud to offer 4-week sessions throughout the year. For $44 per 4-week session and registration fee, take as many or as few work for you.  Tuition includes access to Kindermusik Online. Kindermusik students with siblings taking any NPD class will receive a 10% tuition disciount.

Do I need to attend class with my child?

Yes; each Kindermusik class offered is designed for particpation with a caregiver.

What should we wear for class?

Please wear something comfortable you and your child can move in. Street shoes are not permitted in the studio. We recommend babies and toddlers go barefoot, but socks are acceptable.

What is Kindermusik Online?

Your tuition provides you monthly access to Kindermusik Online, a digital music & activity subscription with all of the music from class, e-books, games and parent tips about how music enhances your child’s development. 

My child will be missing a class. What is your make-up policy?

Kindermusik students may attend an alternate Kindermusik session, or a session of Dance Together for a make-up class. Make-up classes are available to students who have an excused absence or for classes cancelled by NPD. Absences are considered excused if they are reported ahead of time through our online parent portal. You may make up a class up to 30 days following the absence.
